Smiles Abound at Annual Give Kids a Smile Event

On Saturday, February 6, the Harvard Dental Center’s Teaching Practices were filled with small patients in neon sunglasses. Nearly 50 kids, ages one to seventeen, were there for free dental screenings as part of the annual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) event. The sunglasses were for eye protection during their dental treatments, but they added an extra cool factor as well.

The Office of Dental Education welcomed two new Senior Tutors this year, Dr. Aram Kim and Dr. Armando Pardo. Both are Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) graduates.

Dr. Kim received her undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley in bioengineering, and her DMD from HSDM. New HSDM Website Launches

A newly redesigned Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) website made its debut this week. The new website launches after a year of thoughtful planning and work by the project team, with the goal of making improvements to the design, navigation, and overall usability for visitors and regular users of the site.

Mohamed Masoud Receives Eleanor and Miles Shore Fellowship

Dr. Mohamed Masoud, HSDM lecturer on Developmental Biology and clinical associate in the Faculty Group Practice, was recently honored with an Eleanor and Miles Shore Fellowship.  The Shore Fellowship offers junior faculty at HSDM and HMS financial support during a critical time in their academic careers. Fellowships are assessed for academic promise and personal need. Individual Shore Fellowships generally provide $30,000-$50,000 of funding per year.
