The primary nodes of Harvard’s vast neuroscience community are the Department of Neurobiology at the Harvard Medical School and the Center for Brain Science in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, where researchers seek understanding, knowledge, therapies, and eventual cures for humanity’s most costly and heartbreaking diseases and disorders. A network of research collaborations branches out to departments throughout the faculties of Arts and Sciences, Harvard's professional schools and our 16 academic teaching hospitals. The Harvard Brain Science Initiative is a University-wide undertaking to connect the scientists who are describing and mapping the structures and functions of the human brain to the scholars who will integrate these discoveries into medicine, education and social policy toward a more whole, healthy and just society.
